Complete and submit the regular application for transfer admission to UW–Madison according to the schedule specified for the planned term of entry to UW-Madison.
Transfer students are strongly encouraged to review the world language requirement for their intended major. Many UW–Madison programs require sequential world language to the third or fourth level for degree completion. A student whose native language is not English is exempt from this admission requirement provided the student’s formal education through the seventh grade was in the native language. Transfer students must meet the same criteria for admission to specific majors and programs as continuing students. The GPA for transfer is computed in accordance with UW–Madison’s grading practices (all grades for failed and repeated courses are included in the computation). Earn a 3.0 GPA in the transfer course work as determined by UW–Madison computation.Complete a minimum of 24 transferable degree credits (test credit, dual enrollment credit, or other credit earned in high school are not included in the 24 credits).Enroll as a new freshman at any UW System institution (university or branch campus).
Students are eligible for admission under the UW System Guaranteed Transfer Admission Program if they: Students who begin as new freshman at any UW System institution (university or branch campus), who transfer directly to UW-Madison within one year of leaving that institution, who meet requirements for admission to UW–Madison, and who meet specified levels of academic achievement at the UW System institution, will be granted admission to UW–Madison as a transfer student. The University of Wisconsin–Madison participates in the UW System Guaranteed Transfer Admission Program.
